In the first innings of the second Test against Bangladesh, South African batters showcased an aggressive approach. They hit 17 sixes in a single innings, setting a new record.
South Africa broke their own 14-year-old record in this match against Bangladesh. In the Chattogram Test, Aiden Markram and team hit 17 sixes. Never before had South African batters hit this many sixes in a Test innings.
Previously, in 2010, South African players had hit 15 sixes in a single Test innings against the West Indies, which was the highest for South Africa in a Test innings until now. But in the first innings of the Chattogram Test against Bangladesh, the Proteas set a new record with 17 sixes.
Among the South African batters, Tony de Zorzi hit 4 sixes, Tristan Stubbs 3, David Bedingham 4, Wiaan Mulder 4, and Senuran Muthusamy 2. Thanks to Zorzi’s 177, Stubbs’ 106, and Mulder’s unbeaten 105, South Africa declared at 575 for 6. At the end of the second day, Bangladesh was 38 for 4 in their first innings.
