Indian Citizen Arrested for Illegal Entry Through Rangamati Border

Kaptai 41 BGB Detains Man with Indian ID at Bogakhali, Rangamati Border
The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) arrested an Indian citizen at the Bogakhali border area under Jurachhari upazila in Rangamati district. Kaptai 41 BGB detained him after he illegally crossed the border from India into Bangladesh.
During a press conference held on Thursday (August 7) at 3:30 PM, the BGB confirmed the arrest. Lieutenant Colonel Kawsar Mehedi, Commander of the 41 BGB Battalion in Kaptai, stated that BGB’s patrol team from Bogakhali BOP detained 22-year-old Mon Chandra Chakma from Bogakhali market.
The arrested individual is a citizen of India’s Mizoram state and the son of Chandra Hanshu Chakma from South Ugudasuri Chongte Nongle area.
The BGB commander further stated that intelligence reports led them to apprehend the Indian national for unlawfully entering Bangladeshi territory. Preliminary information suggests his involvement in smuggling activities.
The BGB will hand over the individual to Jurachhari Police Station in Rangamati for legal proceedings.
